Director, Technical Accounting & Controls

Job Description
Position Summary
Responsible for ensuring global compliance with US GAAP, internal controls, and company policies and procedures. Drive best practice through research, standardization, and awareness among business constituents. Provide accounting support for complex business transactions and technical accounting activities. Lead a team of professionals to accomplish responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Act as an expert resource for global matters relating to technical accounting and policy issues
Resolve complex accounting issues across all CBI companies, such as M&A activity, contract review, restructuring, and ad hoc transactions
Perform due diligence procedures for potential acquisition and divestiture activities
Oversee the valuation and purchase accounting for acquired companies with assistance from independent valuation experts
Manage the integration of acquired companies into accounting and reporting systems and processes
Provide technical expertise for complex intercompany funds flow and equity transactions
Ensure appropriate documentation of accounting treatment of complex and highly judgmental areas including analysis, relevant literature, and conclusions
Collaborate and consult with global business and Corporate leaders on a regular basis to ensure awareness of transactions and changes that have a potential accounting impact
Issue and maintain global accounting policies and procedures
Direct the quarterly assessment of new accounting pronouncements applicable to the organization and implement changes, including providing user training and ensuring that software and processes are revised as necessary
Provide accounting expertise to key global business projects, including process improvements and efficiencies, new business requirements, new company creation, and software implementations
Oversee global accounting for items considered non-comparable for external reporting purposes, develop a forecast for each item, and lead related quarterly review meetings with the CFO and relevant members of his team
Coordinate internal and external audits, resolve escalated issues, and lead recurring meetings with external auditors
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting required, MBA strongly preferred
CPA certification required
9+ years of experience in public accounting or relevant industry experience with progressive responsibility and experience in the accounting function
Proficiency with personal computers and associated word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software; experience with SAP and JD Edwards general ledger systems and HFM consolidation tool a plus
Excellent communication skills required (both verbal and written)
Spanish language a plus

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
