In addition to operations and maintenance, the following types of experience are also qualifying:
law enforcement or security, firefighting, environmental education, environmental stewardship, natural resource management, forest management, wildlife management or preservation, or historic preservation or interpretation; OR One year of military service in any of the military branches; OR An Associate's or higher-level degree, or 60 credit hours of college level coursework; OR Completion of an appropriate two-year technical / trades school program or two years' experience as a trades assistant under the supervision of a skilled tradesperson.
Duties Description Under higher-level supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and repair tasks for Ganondagan State Historic Site such as:
Minor carpentry tasks (repair boardwalks, replace/repair doors and hardware, repair wood siding, and repair drywall), masonry tasks (sidewalk and stone stair repairs), plumbing tasks (replace/repair faucets and toilets, winterize water lines), and electrical repairs (replace outlets and switches, light fixtures and bulbs) The incumbent will have light security tasks and will frequently work independently with minimal direct supervision in the performance of many of these duties.
This position involves medium to heavy manual labor and the incumbent will operate a variety of equipment and power tools including chainsaws, mowers, and various ground maintenance equipment.
The incumbent will also assist with tree removal/pruning operations that will require the operation of chippers, stump grinders, and lift equipment as needed.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver's license as a term and condition of employment.
Must be able to follow written directions and record and document required information.
Must be able to communicate effectively with staff and patrons.
Must be able to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair work.
Must be physically able to perform medium to heavy manual labor and have the ability to operate equipment and power tools.
Must have the ability to operate a chainsaw and must complete Game of Logging 1, 2 and 3 during the next training session.
Must be qualified and medically cleared to wear a respirator and have knowledge of good safety practices.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
